Mini April Book Update

7:30:00 PM

Now your probably asking, did I read all the books I told myself and you guys I was going to read? Well yes and no. Yes because I ended reading half of them and I'm currently still reading the others. And I kinda added more books to my tbr along the way.

I mean people say that they're tbr list is never ending. and now I can understand why. You set up these goals for yourself and then books come out and you're left with the desire to read them too. I mean there are not enough days in the week but we think that we can do it. We try and sometimes succeed and other times, it's mountains of books staring back at you. I guess you can say I've found myself in the middle ground.
So now your probably wondering what books I did end up wrapping up early in the month. I kind of got distracted and strayed from my april trb list. But I figure it's all right since I still have the rest of the month for my monthy goal.

I did end up reading Wintersong by S. Jae Jones. I posted a review of what I thought of it on my Goodreads page.

Then I read This Savage Song by V.E Schwab. I read the shades of magic trilogy before and I was itching for more of her writing. Again I also posted a review of what I thought of it on my Goodreads.

After I decided to pick up Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. I've heard really good things about it so I figured why not.
Synopsis:
“Are you happy with your life?”

Those are the last words Jason Dessen hears before the masked abductor knocks him unconscious.
Before he awakens to find himself strapped to a gurney, surrounded by strangers in hazmat suits.
Before a man Jason’s never met smiles down at him and says, “Welcome back, my friend.”
In this world he’s woken up to, Jason’s life is not the one he knows. His wife is not his wife. His son was never born. And Jason is not an ordinary college physics professor, but a celebrated genius who has achieved something remarkable. Something impossible.
Is it this world or the other that’s the dream? And even if the home he remembers is real, how can Jason possibly make it back to the family he loves? The answers lie in a journey more wondrous and horrifying than anything he could’ve imagined—one that will force him to confront the darkest parts of himself even as he battles a terrifying, seemingly unbeatable foe.
From the author of the bestselling Wayward Pines trilogy, Dark Matter is a brilliantly plotted tale that is at once sweeping and intimate, mind-bendingly strange and profoundly human—a relentlessly surprising science-fiction thriller about choices, paths not taken, and how far we’ll go to claim the lives we dream of.

What I thought: I loved it. There are not enough words to explain this book without giving too much up. He definitely takes you on a trilling ride. But it was a ride I didn't want to get off just yet. I enjoy sci-fi books that are also really thought-provoking. The book had the right amount of suspense, and moments where I literally had to stop and say "what the fuck" but in the best possible way possible. I haven't read a book like this in a while but I'm so happy that I did.

*disclaimer: I received the book listed above from Blogging For Books in exchange for an honest review*

Now that I told you what I read, now I can tell you what I'm currently reading.

I've just started Stranger the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. I'm almost done with Caraval  by Stephanie Garber.

Either at the end of the month or beginning of next month I'll then write a wrap up of all the books I got through this month. But for now I thought iIt'd be nice to have a little update. It's always nice to not only have a reminder for myself of my goals but to also encourage you guys. Just because you set a specific goal for yourself doesn't mean that you can'
t succeed it and more. That aiming high can be fun and exciting and rewarding. And because I aimed high, I read more books then I thought I would.
