Current Favorites: June

Unlike in May or April; June went by really slow for me. Sure I had a lot more meetings and work but I felt like it all dragged on. Career Wise, it was a great month. But I also found myself in a creative slump. How could I be in both? I have no idea. What I do know is that I loved and enjoyed this month.
THIS BOOK! White Fur by Jardine Libaire. In between my Matson Marathon, I picked up these baby. It was just what I needed too. So here's the book's synopsis via Goodreads:
When Elise Perez meets Jamey Hyde on a desolate winter afternoon, fate implodes, and neither of their lives will ever be the same. Although they are next-door neighbors in New Haven, they come from different worlds. Elise grew up in a housing project without a father and didn't graduate from high school. Jamey is a junior at Yale, heir to a private investment bank fortune and beholden to high family expectations. The attraction is instant, and what starts out as sexual obsession turns into something greater, stranger, and impossible to ignore.
The unlikely couple moves to Manhattan in hopes of forging an adult life together, but Jamey's family intervenes in desperation, and the consequences of staying together are suddenly severe. And when a night out with old friends takes a shocking turn, Jamey and Elise find themselves fighting not just for their love but also for their lives.
Now to why I loved it!:
I loved this electric story of two star crossed lovers going against all the odds in 1980's New York. It brings the feel of Romeo & Juliet but lifts it and creates a version completely captivating. From the first page I was hooked! It was both raw, sexy and addicting reading on how these two people would fall in love.
I wasn't even born in the 80's but the feel and the descriptions make it feel like I was living in it. Elise is this powerful force to be reckoned with woman who's had to be tough with the life was raised in but somehow opens herself up to Jamey was raised fairly sheltered and wealthy. The author truly did do an amazing job with weaving these two characters thoughts and voices together without being too much.
And on to two others things I loved this month.
When I been super busy on the computer editing, I usually love a candle burning in the background. Don't ask me why. I just do. And I've been gravitating towards by little elephant candle holder. I've noticed that my Bath & Body Works candles fit perfectly into it. Like they were meant for each-other.Sorry I cant for the life of me figure out where I got the candle holder.
Because I am an avid glasses wearer, these ones have been my go-to's! It took forever to pick a pair that I felt comfortable in. But because Warby Parker has this GREAT try before you buy program, I didn't feel like I should have rushed. And I'm so glad I didn't because I LOVE THESE! I believe they're called Chelsea and I got them in the coolest grey ever! I must admit I wear them all the time so they have bee my favorite for a while now, but I still admire they're beauty all the time.
What were some of the things you loved last June? (:
